Our verdict
Jasper is built for marketing teams that want brand voice and repeatable workflows rather than a general chatbot. The fine print is the problem: the pricing page says Jasper does not use your data to train AI models, while the terms grant it a license to use your inputs and outputs to develop and enhance its models. Add a strict no-refund clause and a free trial that bills without warning, and this is a tool to buy with your eyes open.
Good fit if you…
- Marketing teams that need brand voice and audience controls
- Business buyers who will negotiate a custom contract
- Users who want chat and Canvas without per-message credits
Skip it if you…
- You need a firm written commitment that your content is never used for model training
- You want to test it and get your money back
- You are a solo writer on a tight budget
The fine print, graded
Five questions, graded A (best for you) to E from Jasper AI, Inc.'s own pages. How grades work.
Pricing clarity · Are prices public and free of traps?
Pro is listed in USD at $69 per seat per month, or $59 per month billed yearly with a 12-month commitment, and includes one seat. Business is quote-only and starts with a 12-month commitment. Payment is by card only: the pricing page says Jasper does not accept PayPal or prepaid cards, and foreign currency conversion is applied by Stripe. A 20% nonprofit discount is available on request.
SourceCancel & refunds · Can you leave, and get money back?
The terms say there are no refunds for cancellation, and none for unused time if Jasper ends your account. After a free trial you are charged automatically, and the terms say you will not get a notice that the trial ended; you must cancel before midnight Pacific on the last trial day. The terms also say cancellation takes effect in the month after you give notice, while the pricing FAQ says you keep access until the end of your billing cycle.
SourceLimits & credits · What is capped, and do credits expire?
The pricing page says chat and Canvas content creation do not use credits. Usage-based features do: the rate card lists 10 credits per GEO Hub query run, 40 per Research or Translation Agent run and 10 per Grid row, plus per-call API rates. Neither page publishes a credit allowance per plan or a dollar price per credit, and the terms let Jasper set usage limits under a fair use policy.
SourceYour data · Is your content used to train models?
The pricing page states that Jasper does not use your data to train AI models, and the trust page says your data is never used to train third-party LLMs. The terms say the opposite for Jasper's own models: Jasper uses inputs and outputs to develop and enhance its AI models, and you grant a perpetual, irrevocable license that covers improving AI models. Only EU and UK users are offered a way to object, by emailing legal@jasper.ai.
SourceOutput rights · Can you use what you make commercially?
The terms say your inputs and outputs remain yours. But the service license is limited to your internal business operations, and the license you grant Jasper is perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable and transferable, extends to your name, voice or likeness as contained in your content, and covers promoting the services.

User reviews · What do paying users report?
Trustpilot gives Jasper a TrustScore of 3.3 from 4,138 reviews. The star split is 87% five-star, but recent reviews are few and mostly one-star, and Trustpilot notes the company hasn't replied to negative reviews. The repeated complaint is billing: charges after cancelling or after a trial, annual auto-renewals, and refunds refused. The praise is about quick marketing drafts.

What Jasper is
Jasper is an AI content platform aimed squarely at marketing departments. Instead of a blank chat box, it organizes work around a Canvas workspace, Brand Voices, Knowledge assets and Audiences, and adds agents for tasks such as research, translation and GEO, its term for optimizing content for AI search engines.
There are only two plans. Pro is a one-seat plan at $69 a month, or $59 a month on a yearly commitment, with a 7-day free trial. Business is a custom contract that adds the heavier agents, a no-code agent builder, Jasper Grid, API access and admin controls. Adding a second Pro user means talking to sales.
The data-training contradiction
This is the most important finding in this review. The pricing page FAQ says plainly that Jasper does not use your data to train AI models. Jasper's trust page makes a narrower promise: your company data and outputs are never used to train third-party LLMs.
The terms of service, version 4.1 effective May 30, 2025, read differently. Section 7 says Jasper uses Customer Property, including input and output, to provide and improve the services, including for developing and enhancing Jasper's artificial intelligence models. Section 3 grants Jasper a perpetual, irrevocable license to that content for, among other things, modifying, improving and enhancing AI models. Users in the EU and UK may object by writing to legal@jasper.ai; the terms offer no equivalent for US users.
Marketing copy is not the contract. If keeping your drafts out of model training matters, get the pricing-page promise written into your order form or a data processing agreement before you sign, especially on a Business deal where you have leverage.
Trials, renewals and refunds
The free trial is where people get caught. The terms say your card is charged automatically when the trial ends and, in their words, you will not receive a notice that your free trial has ended. To avoid the charge you must cancel before midnight Pacific time on the final trial day.
After that, the no-refund clause applies: you can cancel at any time, but there are no refunds for cancellation. The pricing FAQ says you keep access until the end of the billing cycle, while the terms say a cancellation takes effect in the month after the month you give notice. In practice, cancel well before your renewal date and keep the confirmation. Yearly Pro and every Business contract also come with a 12-month commitment.
Where credits come in
Day-to-day writing is not metered: the pricing page says chat and Canvas content creation do not drive credit usage, and the rate card marks prompts and standard agent runs as unlimited. Credits apply to usage-based features, which the pricing page ties to the Business plan. The rate card lists 10 credits per GEO Hub query, 40 per Research or Translation Agent run, 10 per Grid row, and between 1 and 40 credits per API or MCP call.
What is missing is the price of a credit and how many a plan includes. Those numbers live in your Business quote, so ask for them in writing, along with what happens when you run out.
Ownership and usage rights
The terms say your inputs and outputs remain yours, and Jasper claims no ownership of them. Two clauses temper that. Your right to use the service is limited to your internal business operations, which suits a marketing team but may not suit someone reselling generated content as a service. And the license you grant Jasper reaches your name, voice and likeness as contained in your content, including for promoting Jasper. Disputes go to individual arbitration under Delaware law, with a 30-day opt-out by email to hey@jasper.ai.
